No Do you support allowing individuals to divert a portion of their Social Security taxes into personal retirement accounts?
In 1950 there were 16 workers paying into Social Security for every retiree receiving benefits. Today there are just 3 workers per each retiree. By 2030 there will be only 2 workers per each retiree. The projected $15.1 trillion shortfall leaves three options; increase Social Security tax, federally subsidize funds, or reduce benefits. Retirees depend on Social Security and we must provide for them. I believe we must slowly reduce benefit expectations for future generations of retirees. It is fiscally corrupt to expect future 18-30 year old workers to pay more money into Social Security than those who receive benefits.
